About Me

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  After college in Philadelphia, I began a westward migration that ended in San Diego, California. I'm still there going on forty-six years later.

My interest in birds began as a youngster in Brooklyn, but my passion for bird photography was born with the advent of digital cameras (DSLRs) in 2001.

Although I made a living as mechanical engineer, most of my free time since then was spent traveling to domestic and international locations in search of birds to photograph. Many of those images can be seen in my first (but no longer active) website (nsolomon.readyhosting.com).

Since retiring in 2014, I've devoted even more time to bird photography, posting images regularly on Facebook (Facebook.com/neil.solomon.37).

Around 2019, after using Canon equipment for many years, I switched to the Olympus micro 4/3 system. My primary reason for the change was the weight  and compactness of the Olympus equipment with regards to travel. My kit now consists of the following:

Olympus OM-D E-M1x Body

Olympus OM-D E-M1 MK III Body

Olympus 150-400 mm f4.5 Pro Lens

Olympus 300 mm f4 Pro Lens

Olympus 40-150 f2.8 Pro lens

Olympus 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters

With the change in equipment came a change in the "focus" of my photography. I am now concentrating on capturing images of birds in flight. To that end, I've created this website (nsolomonphoto.com) devoted to images of Birds in Flight.

No matter which type of bird images you prefer, please take a look at the images found on the afore mentioned sites. They are there for your enjoyment.
