Hummingbird Photography Workshops

Costa's Hummingbird

All workshops include  two shooting sessions in the field and an optional classroom session the night before the field session. Plus in the field image evaluations between shooting sessions. Our  field shooting sessions will take place on private property in the community of Alpine, which is located less than a 40 minute drive east from downtown San Diego.


Immature Rufous and Black-chinned Hummingbirds

Learn about Hummingbirds and their behavior as you observe and photograph 40-100 Hummingbirds comprised of up to four species (i.e. Anna's, Black-chinned, Costa's and Rufous).  Instruction is provided on the equipment and techniques for capturing Hummingbird images using both ambient light and multiple flash set-ups.

All equipment is provided although participants are encouraged to bring their own tripod, digital SLR and lenses (focal length 200 mm to 400 mm).

There will be three multiple flash set-ups that can be used with any camera equipped with a PC port or hot shoe.
